Twenty-two tankers joined the U.S. sanctions list Thursday.

OFAC's action adds 17 vessels under an order covering Iran's petroleum and petrochemical sectors and five under a separate Iran sanctions authority. The list covers crude, oil-products, chemical, asphalt and liquefied-petroleum-gas tankers.

Two container ships came off the list. Treasury reported that HAKUNA MATATA and PINOCCHIO had left the network and been sold to non-sanctioned operators aligned with the United States.

The action also authorizes a wind-down of transactions involving Samudra Marine Services Private Limited.

An SDN listing generally blocks covered property in the United States or under the control of U.S. persons. Transactions involving that property are generally prohibited without authorization or an exemption. A designation is not a criminal charge.
