North Korea fired one short-range ballistic missile toward the East Sea on Sunday, Kim Seung-yeon reported for Yonhap News Agency, citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The military detected the launch at about 3 p.m. local time from the Wonsan area. It said the missile flew about 450 kilometers, while South Korean and US intelligence tracked it from the initial stage and shared information with Japan. Analysis is continuing.

South Korea's National Security Office convened an emergency meeting and urged North Korea to stop ballistic missile launches, which it said violate United Nations Security Council resolutions. No public JCS or National Security Office statement was available for this desk to inspect.
