North Korea says hypersonic missile hit a target 1,000 kilometers away
North Korea said an intermediate-range strategic missile struck a target 1,000 kilometers away in the East Sea during a Saturday firing drill, Kim Soo-yeon reported for Yonhap News Agency, citing state media.
Yonhap said the Korean Central News Agency described the weapon as part of a hypersonic system and said Kim Jong Un oversaw the launch. South Korea's military had measured a flight of more than 700 kilometers from the Wonsan area.
The two figures are different measurements. North Korea described the distance to a target. South Korea described the observed flight.
The model remains unconfirmed. No authority-owned statement was available for this desk to inspect.
