Norges Bank raised its policy rate by 25 basis points to 4.50 percent Thursday. The decision says the rate will probably remain near that level for a time before declining.
Another increase remains possible. The committee said headline inflation had been higher than projected, while underlying inflation had slowed more than expected. It judged capacity use slightly below normal and said employment had continued to rise.
The bank projects inflation returning to its 2 percent target in 2029. Registered unemployment is expected to edge above pre-pandemic levels. The next rate decision is due November 5.
