Google tests Flipkart checkout inside Gemini and AI Mode in India

Google is testing a Buy button that opens a Flipkart checkout inside Gemini and AI Mode in India, Jagmeet Singh first reported for TechCrunch late Saturday.

TechCrunch saw the experience and corroborated it with people familiar with the matter. The button appears for some users on selected Flipkart listings for smartphones, electronics and mobile accessories. Other users still see listings without the purchase option.

This is still a test.

The checkout carries Flipkart branding but opens without the user leaving Google's AI interface. Singh reports that Google plans to make the experience available more broadly later in October.

Google told TechCrunch that it regularly tests new features and had no more details. Flipkart did not respond to the outlet's request for comment.
