Google plans at least €13bn of Finland infrastructure spending over two years
At least €13bn over two years.
Google plans to invest that amount in digital infrastructure in Finland during 2027 and 2028, the company said Wednesday. Work is planned in Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala. Google has not divided the spending among the four communities.
The company also signed a 22 year power agreement with Fortum supporting the operating life extension of the Loviisa nuclear plant. Other agreements support 629 megawatts of new wind projects and a 94 megawatt battery expected to begin operating in late 2027.
Google estimates the program will support 37,000 jobs during construction and 7,000 jobs each year once operational. Those are company estimates, not independent counts.
