FAA grounds all three U.S.-registered Elixir aircraft after fatal production flight
The FAA is grounding every U.S.-registered Elixir aircraft after a fatal production flight.
Airworthiness Directive 2026-21-01 applies to all Elixir models and takes effect one day after its scheduled October 13 publication. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
No approved inspection or modification procedure exists yet. Further flight is prohibited until all applicable corrective actions are completed using a method approved by the FAA's International Validation Branch. Routine special flight permits are not available.
The agency estimates that three airplanes on the U.S. registry are affected. It provided no cost estimate because the cause is unknown and no corrective procedure has been approved.
