EU mobilises €200m for Greenland satellite, energy and mining projects
The European Union will mobilise €200m for investments in Greenland this year and next, the European Commission said Monday.
The first projects cover five years of added satellite capacity through Greenlandic telecom company Tusass, technical and investor support for mining projects, and hybrid renewable power in remote settlements. The package also includes a programme office, with remaining money assigned to preparing housing and tourism programmes.
No project allocations were given.
A joint declaration signed by the EU, Greenland and Denmark lists 16 areas for cooperation but says it creates no legal or financial obligations.
