CBP seeks to extend tariff refund worksheet for 330,000 importers
Customs and Border Protection is seeking to extend the information collection behind its court-ordered IEEPA tariff refund process, estimating 330,000 businesses or brokers will file 495,000 CAPE declarations a year.
The process is already running.
Each declaration is a CSV file submitted through the Automated Commercial Environment and may hold up to 9,999 entry summaries. Importers may file more than one, while small businesses without an ACE account can use a licensed customs broker.
The notice says the voided tariffs covered an estimated $166bn across more than 53 million entry summaries. It also estimates 33,000 replacement files a year after screening rejects an original submission.
Comments will be due 30 days after the notice publishes on October 5.
