Bessent says US is open to China talks on shared AI risks
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Maria Curi and Marc Caputo of Axios that the United States is open to discussing shared AI risks with China at talks this weekend.
Bessent said in a statement to the outlet that discussions are expected to cover open and closed weight models. He also raised avoiding a split between the two countries' AI systems.
Axios reported that meetings in New York will address AI, trade and rare earths. Working-level talks could continue into Monday.
