AMD says its South Korea AI center will hire hundreds of researchers
AMD plans to hire hundreds of researchers at an artificial intelligence center in South Korea, Park Jong-ho reported for Aju Press after Chief Executive Lisa Su met the country's deputy science minister Wednesday.
The hiring scale is new.
AMD's July partnership announcement said it would establish a center of excellence in Korea to support software work and collaboration with universities, research institutions and local companies. It gave no headcount.
Su also said AMD has partnered with Korean startup MangoBoost on cloud infrastructure and signed an agreement with Seoul National University's AI research institute, according to Aju Press. The meeting was followed by a discussion with 14 Korean AI chip companies.
The company has not disclosed the center's location, opening date, hiring schedule or investment amount.
