Missouri opens a bachelor's degree route to CPA licensure
Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe signed Senate Bill 1233, adding a route to CPA licensure that does not require 150 credit hours, reported by Paige Hagy at Accounting Today. The law takes effect August 28. Candidates may qualify with a bachelor's degree that includes accounting coursework, two years of professional experience, and a passing CPA exam score. The bill preserves practice mobility for CPAs licensed in other states. Senator Curtis Trent sponsored the measure, which covers several licensed professions beyond accounting. The Missouri Society of CPAs backed it. Dena Hull, vice president of strategy and communications at the society, described the change as expanding pathways to licensure while preserving mobility. The state board of accountancy is preparing matching rule revisions for filing within weeks.
