Lehigh Community Services says it has received a $10,000 grant from Safeco Insurance and Liberty Mutual to launch a new Emergency Generator Fund.
The Lehigh Acres nonprofit says the award came through a nationwide contest after local Safeco agency partner Al Deleon nominated the organization. The grant was presented September 22.
The announcement identifies the purpose and amount of the grant but does not yet explain who may qualify for generator help, how residents may apply or when the money will be used. Residents should wait for those details before treating the fund as an available benefit.
Lehigh Community Services says it has served the community since 1977. Its home page also lists food-pantry appointments and other assistance programs, but those existing services are separate from the newly announced generator fund.
More local government, business and service updates are collected on the Lehigh Acres page.
