A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a car at Sunshine Boulevard North and Ida Avenue North in Lehigh Acres just before midnight on Wednesday, and Sunshine Boulevard, blocked at the time, has since reopened

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a car at Sunshine Boulevard North and Ida Avenue North in Lehigh Acres late on Wednesday night, and the road is open again.

Gulf Coast News reports that, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to reports of a crash at that intersection at 11.35 p.m. Wednesday and found on arrival that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital. The car remained at the scene.

Sunshine Boulevard was blocked at the time of the crash and has since reopened.

The sheriff's office has not released the pedestrian's age, name or condition, has not described how the crash happened, and has not mentioned any charge. None of that appears here for that reason.

Sunshine Boulevard North is a Lehigh Acres county road rather than a state road, so the crash does not appear on the Florida Highway Patrol dispatch board, which was read this morning and holds no Lee or Collier roadblock. That absence is the expected result for a county street and is not evidence about this crash either way.

No public document sits behind this account. The Lee County Sheriff's Office does not publish an incident log for calls of this kind, so what the agency has said about this crash reached the public through the newsroom quoting it.
