The boy was identified by his family as Matthew Kymani Stmarc, 15. Emily Young and Damien Alvarado of WINK News reported that identification on July 27. Deputies opened a death investigation at the 4500 block of 22nd Street Southwest that Monday, and the sheriff's office later confirmed on social media that it had become a homicide investigation.

This site covered that scene on July 27 and its reclassification as a homicide on July 28, and on July 29 covered a search warrant served by the sheriff's office Special Operations Unit on 21st Street Southwest, one street over. That item said the agency had not connected the warrant to the earlier investigation, and that no such connection was being drawn here.

The agency has now been asked and has answered. It cannot confirm whether the investigation involving the 21st Street Southwest home is related to the Stmarc homicide.

Two further things have been added. There has been more than one search warrant at that address, and the sheriff's office says its Major Crimes Unit continues to follow leads, conduct interviews and gather evidence.
