Lee County pauses community-plan rewrite affecting Lehigh Acres and removes the October 7 hearing
Lee County commissioners voted September 15 to pause CPA2026-00005, the countywide Lee Plan rewrite that includes Lehigh Acres. The county removed the proposal from its October 7 meeting calendar. The pause does not apply to the separate Southeast Lee County update, whose adoption hearing remains tentatively scheduled for October 21.

Lee County commissioners voted September 15 to pause a countywide rewrite of the Lee Plan that includes community-specific policies for Lehigh Acres.
The county's current CPA2026-00005 status says the proposal will no longer be considered at the October 7 commission meeting. Lee County has not posted a replacement hearing date.
Gulf Coast News reporter Bernie Montás reported Wednesday that residents objected to removing community-specific development rules. Commissioner David Mulicka told the outlet that the length of the pause is indefinite.
What the pause means for Lehigh Acres
CPA2026-00005 proposed reorganizing policies across 17 community plan areas in unincorporated Lee County. The county page links a separate set of proposed changes for Lehigh Acres.
The pause means those proposed changes have not taken effect and are no longer moving to the October 7 hearing. Lee County says the proposal would change no property's zoning or future land use designation and would increase no allowable density or intensity.
The pause follows three advisory recommendations. The Local Planning Agency recommended the amendments August 31. Two committees reviewing the related Land Development Code changes recommended approval September 9 and September 11.
Money & World reported September 3 that the planning agency had advanced the rewrite while county commission action was still required. The commission has now stopped that process without setting a new date.
Which Lee County plan is still moving
The county says the pause does not apply to CPA2026-00004, the separate Southeast Lee County update. Commissioners sent that proposal to state reviewers in August, and its adoption hearing remains tentatively scheduled for October 21.
