IMA launches an index scoring how much employers value management accounting
The Institute of Management Accountants released the Management Accounting Competency Index on July 14. The index measures how strongly organisations value finance, accounting, data, forecasting, risk and decision-making skills. IMA built it from a global survey of management accountants. The report said index scores predicted whether leaders felt their organisation was positioned for success over the next four quarters. Larger organisations scored higher than smaller ones. Financial services organisations had the highest scores and construction the lowest. Leaders of small organisations rated financial reporting the least important competency. IMA has expanded its underlying competency framework from six core areas to 10. The report was written by Jerome Rekart, senior psychometrician and head of research at IMA. Reported by Michael Cohn at Accounting Today.
