A box truck caught fire on Interstate 75 northbound at mile marker 121, between Estero and Bonita Springs, early on Monday afternoon, blocking the left lane for about half an hour.

The Florida Highway Patrol dispatch board recorded the call at 12.45 p.m., a dispatch at 12.50 and an arrival at 1.21 p.m., with the left lane blocked for emergency responders. Within five minutes of that arrival the state's remarks field on the same call read that the roadblock was clear.

The Fort Myers News-Press reports that Estero Fire Rescue extinguished the flames, with Bonita Springs Fire and Lee County EMS also responding, and that there were no reports of injuries. The report is by Mark H. Bickel. No cause has been released and the cause is under investigation.

The state tags the location Bonita Springs and the News-Press describes it as near Estero. Mile marker 121 sits between the two.

The News-Press noted the fire came on a day of extreme heat in Lee County.

Interstate 75 is the only continuous north to south route through south Lee County, with no frontage road alongside it, which is why a single blocked lane on this stretch pushes traffic onto Three Oaks Parkway and US 41 and takes considerably longer to clear than the block itself lasts.
