Fort Myers Shores streets flooded after Wednesday rain, leaving soaked yards and renewed drainage concerns

Streets and yards in Fort Myers Shores were still showing the effects of Wednesday's rain on Thursday, according to reporting by Isaias Soto at Gulf Coast News.

Soto reported that Third Street and East Cypress Road were under water during the downpour. Some yards remained soaked Thursday, and residents told the outlet they were concerned about drainage in the community.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Lee County at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday that specifically included Fort Myers Shores. The advisory said between two and four inches of rain had fallen across the broader warning area and that minor flooding and water over roads were ongoing or expected.

That advisory expired at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. Gulf Coast News did not report a continuing road closure, evacuation or flooding inside buildings in its Thursday update.
