A six-year-old Florida panther found dead on SR 29 is the state's 12th panther loss of 2026
A six-year-old male Florida panther was found dead along SR 29 near Farm Worker Way in Collier County on September 29. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission lists a vehicle collision as the cause.

Gulf Coast News reported Tuesday that a Florida panther found dead in Collier County is the 12th panther death documented statewide this year.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Panther Pulse identifies the animal as UCFP509, a six-year-old male found September 29 along SR 29, about half a mile northwest of Farm Worker Way near Immokalee.
FWC lists a vehicle collision as the cause of death. The agency's 2026 table now contains 12 deaths, all attributed to vehicles. Seven occurred in Collier County.
The previous documented death was a four-year-old male found July 1 along Corkscrew Road in Lee County. The latest Collier record is the first addition to the state table since then.
