Bomb squad clears Estero post office after an unattended container proves empty

Layza Pinero Resto of Gulf Coast News reported that the Lee County Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded to the Estero post office on Thursday. WINK News separately reported that deputies were called after an unattended container was found in the lobby.

The sheriff's office told both outlets that the container was empty. WINK reported that the agency classified it as nonhazardous and cleared the scene.

The response has ended. No evacuation, injury or arrest was reported. The sheriff's office has not published a separate public release on the incident.
