The Lee County Sheriff's Office says deputies are conducting an active death investigation at the Bonita Springs Dog Beach.

According to the sheriff's office, the investigation is underway at the beach off Estero Boulevard. Gulf Coast News reporter Carson Zorn published the account on Monday afternoon. WINK News, whose writer Nicholas Karsen and reporter Bridget Bruchalski carried the same statement, reported that deputies arrived on scene at about 2 p.m. on Monday.

The sheriff's office says the cause of death is not known at this time and that the death does not appear suspicious. It told WINK News that while the investigation is ongoing it remains unknown whether a drowning occurred.
