South Korea's official foreign reserves fell $1.72bn in September to $440.56bn, the Bank of Korea said Tuesday.
The central bank attributed the decline to lower foreign-currency deposits at financial institutions, assets entrusted to the Korea-US Strategic Investment Corporation and a lower dollar value for assets held in other currencies.
Future transfers are not set.
Securities remained the largest component at $386.03bn, or 87.6 percent of reserves. Deposits were $29.95bn, special drawing rights were $15.48bn and the country's position at the International Monetary Fund was $4.30bn. Gold was unchanged at $4.79bn.
