Royal Caribbean agrees to pay about $3bn for half of Sandals and Beaches
Royal Caribbean agreed to acquire half of Sandals Resorts International for about $3bn, the cruise operator said in its announcement. The interest includes the Sandals and Beaches resort brands. It is a major move onto land.
Royal Caribbean said the price represents about 10 times forward EBITDA. Morgan Stanley is providing committed debt financing. The companies expect the transaction to close in early 2027, subject to customary approvals and other closing conditions.
Existing reservations, loyalty programs, resort operations and cruise operations are expected to continue as usual. Royal Caribbean said it expects the investment to add to earnings next year, but that remains a company forecast.
