¥7.0tn.

Foreign investors were net sellers of ¥6.9978tn of Japanese securities in September, according to monthly contract data released Thursday by Japan's Ministry of Finance.

Equities and investment-fund shares accounted for ¥6.2935tn of net sales. Short-term debt added ¥3.795tn of net sales, while long-term debt moved the other way with ¥3.0907tn of net purchases.

The selling was concentrated after September 10. Foreign investors bought a net ¥2.0772tn in the month's first reporting period, then sold ¥3.498tn in the middle period and ¥5.577tn in the final period.

This is not a holdings report. The figures cover contracts reported by designated major investors, including specified banks, securities firms, insurers and asset managers. Negative values mean net dispositions, not investment losses.
