Informa agrees £2.24bn Clarion deal and reviews Taylor & Francis separation
Informa said Tuesday it agreed to buy Clarion from Blackstone at a £2.24bn enterprise value and opened a review of separating academic publisher Taylor & Francis.
Clarion owns more than 100 business-to-business brands. Informa expects it to produce at least £575m in 2027 revenue with margins above 30%.
The buyback is paused.
The deal is financed with acquisition debt and an equity placing of about £940m. Informa targets £50m of annual operating synergies plus £25m of incremental operating profit from revenue synergies by 2029.
Closing is expected by the end of 2026, subject to clearances.
Taylor & Francis generates about $1bn of annual revenue. Informa expects to announce the separation review's outcome with full-year results in March 2027.
