Health plans move public price files from monthly to quarterly updates
Health plans and insurers will move their public in-network and out-of-network price files from monthly to quarterly updates under a final rule filed Monday by Treasury, Labor and HHS.
The main changes apply March 6, 2027. New context files and website-linking requirements follow September 6.
The rule adds provider network names and identifiers, and requires a utilization file. It also lowers the minimum claim count for reporting out-of-network historical prices to 11 from 20.
A chief executive, president or designated senior official must be named with an attestation that the files are complete and accurate.
The agencies estimate $399.7m in one-time costs, $80.4m a year in costs and $254.9m in annual savings. The document is scheduled for Federal Register publication Tuesday.
