Chime would own its bank partner.

The fintech agreed Tuesday to buy Central Service Corporation, Stride Bank's parent, for $590m in cash, an SEC filing shows. The filing reached EDGAR after the market close.

Stride would become Chime Bank, N.A., as a wholly owned subsidiary. Chime expects more than $100m of net synergies and plans to fund the purchase from cash without an incremental capital contribution.

Closing is expected in the first half of 2027, subject to Federal Reserve and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency approvals. Chime said it intends to consolidate its bank activities at Stride while keeping the bank below $10bn of assets for the foreseeable future.
