Brookfield wins a $1bn mandate from Britain's nuclear liabilities fund
The first allocation is $1bn.
Britain's Nuclear Liabilities Fund selected Brookfield for a multi-decade investment mandate with an initial investment of about £750m, Brookfield said in an SEC filing Tuesday. Its Investment Solutions Group will manage the money.
The fund is independent and ring-fenced to meet future decommissioning costs for eight British nuclear power stations. It chose Brookfield through a competitive process, according to the filing.
The mandate adds long-duration institutional capital to Brookfield's assets under management. The filing does not disclose Brookfield's fee rate, investment targets or an end date for the mandate.
