Allstate estimates catastrophe losses of $748m in August, or $591m after tax, the insurer said Thursday. The month contained 21 events.
About half of the loss came from one wind and hail event. Allstate did not identify or locate that event in the release.
Estimated catastrophe losses for July and August totaled $1.43bn before tax and $1.13bn after tax. The figures were furnished with the company's Form 8-K and remain estimates rather than reported quarterly results.
