Corkscrew Road Phase 2: construction and dated updates
The Bella Terra Boulevard to Alico Road widening near Estero, with documented schedules and construction changes.
Last checked: October 17, 2026.
Project scope
Lee County's Corkscrew Road project website describes Phase 2 as a four-lane road from Bella Terra Boulevard to Alico Road. The scope includes an Alico Road traffic signal, street lighting, landscaping, a 10-foot shared-use path on the south side and a 6-foot sidewalk on the north side. Phase 2 construction began in early 2024.
The dated October 16 county update published by Estero puts completion in late spring 2027 and the project cost at approximately $27m. It attributes the schedule to additional Lee County Utilities work and utility-relocation delays involving FPL and Lumen. The project homepage still lists late 2026; this page uses the newer dated update.
October 23 through 26 work
The county schedules Corkscrew Road lane closures at Alico Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during intersection reconstruction from October 23 through October 26. Alico Road lane reductions in both directions apply throughout the work period. Flaggers and law enforcement will direct traffic. Weather and underground conditions may alter the schedule.
