FHP says a 59-year-old Fort Myers man crossing US 41 near Judd Road died after a 17-year-old driver struck him
The Florida Highway Patrol says a 59-year-old Fort Myers man was struck while crossing southbound US 41 near Judd Road at 8:52 p.m. Friday and later died at a hospital. The state says a 17-year-old Cape Coral driver was not injured and the crash remains under investigation.

WINK Digital Team reported Saturday that the Florida Highway Patrol has released more detail about the fatal US 41 crash in North Fort Myers first recorded Friday night.
According to the patrol account published by WINK News, a 59-year-old Fort Myers man was attempting to cross the southbound lanes near Judd Road at 8:52 p.m. A 17-year-old Cape Coral driver was approaching in the outside lane, and the patrol says the vehicle struck the pedestrian.
The man was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries and later died, according to FHP. The driver was not injured.
The patrol says the crash remains under investigation. Its public incident board previously classified the event as a fatality and later changed the road status to clear.
