The Florida Highway Patrol now says the roadway is clear at US 41 and Evergreen Road in North Fort Myers after a fatality shut all southbound lanes.
The patrol's public incident board initially described a crash with injuries. By about 9:30 p.m. Friday, the same incident row listed a fatality while continuing to say all southbound lanes were shut. The location appears as North Cleveland Avenue at Evergreen Road. The board changed the status to roadway clear early Saturday.
The clear status removes the immediate traffic warning. The board does not state an exact reopening time.
The public record does not identify the person who died or say how many vehicles were involved. It also gives no cause for the crash.
