Miami cargo plane crash sends diverted flights and stranded travelers to RSW
Flights bound for Miami were diverted to Southwest Florida International Airport after Sunday's fatal cargo plane crash. RSW confirmed the diversions to WINK News. The FAA said shortly after midnight Monday that Miami arrivals were delayed by an average of six hours and 24 minutes, while general arrival and departure delays at RSW were 15 minutes or less.

Flights bound for Miami were diverted to Southwest Florida International Airport after Sunday's fatal cargo plane crash, bringing travelers who had planned to connect through Miami to Fort Myers instead.
Alex Orenczuk and Hunter Walterman of WINK News reported that RSW confirmed some flights were diverted. Travelers interviewed by the station described searching for replacement flights or rental cars late Sunday night.
Miami delays remain severe
The Federal Aviation Administration's current Miami airport status said at 12:37 a.m. Monday that a traffic management program was delaying some arriving flights by an average of six hours and 24 minutes. The FAA attributed the program to a disabled aircraft and runway and taxiway constraints.
Miami International Airport says two of its four runways are open, but impacts continue. The airport is telling passengers to check directly with their airline before heading there.
RSW was not reporting the same airportwide disruption shortly after midnight. Its FAA status page showed general arrival and departure delays of 15 minutes or less and no destination specific delay. That does not resolve individual diverted itineraries, which remain with the airlines.
