Roger Antonio Polo De La Cruz received two consecutive life sentences Monday for two counts of attempted second-degree murder in Lee County, according to the State Attorney's Office for the 20th Judicial Circuit.
James Curtis at Gulf Coast News first alerted this desk to the sentence. The prosecuting office says De La Cruz was adjudicated guilty Monday after an August trial. Assistant State Attorney Tyler Goldman and Assistant Felony Chief Erin Hughes prosecuted the case.
The office says the case arose from a March 15, 2025, shooting at a Fort Myers apartment building. Its account says Lee County deputies found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds and a man who had also been shot multiple times. The office says another resident saw De La Cruz firing a gun before he left in an SUV.
The two life terms will run consecutively, according to the release.
This is a completed sentencing, not an active public-safety situation. The new development is the court outcome for the two attempted-murder counts.
