All eastbound lanes of Rattlesnake Hammock Road are closed just east of Collier Boulevard because of a gas leak, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said in a traffic alert posted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies are managing traffic while gas company workers repair the leak, the sheriff's office said. WINK News, in coverage credited to Blake Wallis, reported the closure at 1:48 p.m.
Neither source gives a reopening estimate, a cause for the leak, injury information or an evacuation order.
What changes for drivers
Eastbound drivers should choose another route and allow extra time while the closure remains in effect. The sheriff's office has not announced when the road will reopen.
