Carson Zorn of Gulf Coast News reported Tuesday that prosecutors dropped the murder and aggravated-assault charges in a Pine Manor shooting case and that Lee County released the accused person last week.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office charge record independently lists one second-degree murder entry and two aggravated-assault entries under Circuit Court case 26CF000397 as nolle prosequi, meaning prosecutors declined to continue those charges.
The same booking record lists two drug-possession charges under a separate case number. Those charges remain accusations and have not been adjudicated.
The available public record does not explain why prosecutors ended the murder and aggravated-assault case. Gulf Coast News reported that the dropped charges arose from the April 2025 shooting death of Joshua Hutchins in Pine Manor.
