The National Weather Service placed northeastern Lee County under a flood advisory until 8 p.m. Tuesday after thunderstorms dropped between two and three inches of rain.

The office said another one to two inches could fall. Minor flooding was ongoing or expected to begin shortly in low lying and poor drainage areas when the advisory was issued at 4.53 p.m.

The advisory names Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Olga, Buckingham, Charleston Park, East Dunbar, Fort Myers Shores, Alva, Gateway and Tice.

This is a Minor severity advisory. The Weather Service has not issued an evacuation order or said water is entering buildings. Its immediate instruction is for drivers to turn around when they encounter water across a road.

The advisory remains active until 8 p.m. unless the Weather Service cancels, replaces or extends it.
