Lee County records show a North Fort Myers roof permit expired without a final inspection, and a code hearing is set for October 5

Lee County has scheduled an October 5 hearing over an expired roof permit at a North Fort Myers home, and the county's live permit record shows no completed inspection.

Lois Thome of WINK News first reported Wednesday that homeowner Marilyn Sue Kuhns said she hired Veterans Roofing to repair Hurricane Ian damage. Kuhns told WINK that most of the roof work was done, but soffits and eaves remained unfinished after she made the final payment.

The county's permit record lists ROF2025-02751 as expired. It carries a required roof inspection affidavit condition and says there are no completed inspections on the record.

The separate code case describes the issue as an expired permit and lists a hearing for October 5 at 9:30 a.m. A scheduled hearing is not a finding that anyone violated the code, and the record does not list a fine.

WINK reported that Veterans Roofing owner Melanie Hotle said she was renewing the company's county license and would schedule the final inspection. Thome reported that Hotle later said she would address the matter before October 1. Florida's state licensing portal separately lists Hotle's roofing license as current and active through August 2028.

This brief is not flagged as breaking. The hearing is scheduled, and the public records do not describe an active emergency or an instruction for nearby residents.
