Naples Zoo is closed for the whole of this working week for scheduled maintenance.

A site wide notice on the zoo's own homepage states that the zoo is closed for maintenance from August 10 through August 14, which runs from Monday to Friday. The zoo has published the dates and no reason for the work, and no reopening time of day.

Gulf Coast News reported the closure on Monday morning, in a piece by Layza Pinero Resto. Its wording, that the zoo will be closed from Monday until August 14, matches the range the zoo itself publishes.

The outlet adds one detail that the zoo's own pages do not carry. It reports that once the zoo reopens, first responders will be admitted free, defining them as all active and retired emergency professionals including police officers, sheriff's deputies, paramedics, firefighters and medical care professionals, on presenting valid professional identification at the entrance.

That offer is reported here as the outlet's reporting and not as a confirmed term. The zoo's homepage carries no mention of first responders, and a request for a ticketing page on the zoo's site returned a not found error, so this site could not establish from the zoo when such an offer starts, how long it runs, or whether it is currently in force.

Anyone holding dated tickets for this week, or a membership expiring this month, is better off contacting the zoo directly than turning up at the gate.
