Lee County opened two more boil water notices at lunchtime on Monday, one of them the third main break in the Villas in four days, and the Chandler Avenue notice from Friday morning has now been open more than ninety hours

Lee County Utilities is carrying three open boil water notices before dawn on Tuesday. Two of them went up on Monday. The third has been open since Friday morning.
The county's water map service was queried directly at about 4.20 on Tuesday morning. It returns seven records where it held six on Sunday. Four carry a lift date. Three do not.
The first of the new ones covers 795 through 930 Entrada Drive North, 884 through 924 Entrada Drive South, and 12131 McGregor Boulevard. The county puts the job at 807 North Entrada Drive and describes it in its own words as a two inch main break at noon on Monday. The record went up at 1.39 that afternoon.
The second covers 2260 Woodland Boulevard and 8925 Crest Lane. The county puts that job at 8924 Crest Lane, describes it as another two inch main break, and stamps it noon on Monday as well. That record went up at 1.50, eleven minutes after the first.
Both addresses were geocoded against the United States Census Bureau's current benchmark. Entrada Drive North and that stretch of McGregor Boulevard fall in McGregor, an unincorporated place in Lee County in the 33919 ZIP code. Crest Lane and Woodland Boulevard fall in Villas, in 33907. Both places carry Fort Myers mailing addresses without being part of the City of Fort Myers.
That matters because Villas is where the county has been working all week. Crest Lane is the third main break there in four days.
Dorchester Street and Chandler Avenue both broke at 9.30 on Friday morning, a few streets apart. The county lifted the Dorchester Street notice at 9.23 on Sunday morning. Crest Lane broke at noon on Monday, about six tenths of a mile from Chandler Avenue. Nothing the county has published connects the three breaks, and no connection is claimed here.
The Chandler Avenue notice is the one that has not moved. It covers 2418 through 2457 Chandler Avenue, it followed what the county calls a four inch main break, and it has now been open 91 hours.
That record has no rescinded date. It is still carried under the county's emergency shut down code. And it has not been edited at any point since it was created at 11.46 on Friday morning.
The layer's own edit history puts the most recent change to the whole map at 1.50 on Monday afternoon, which is the moment the county added the Crest Lane notice. So the county was in this layer on Monday, adding new notices, and left the Chandler Avenue one exactly as it was.
The county's own note on every record on this map says a boil water event typically lasts 24 to 48 hours but can be longer and may last several days. Its notices page says a notice stays in effect until bacteriological testing confirms the water is safe, and that testing typically takes 48 to 72 hours. The two Monday notices, at about seventeen hours each, sit well inside that window. Chandler Avenue is about 19 hours past the top of it.
Nothing here says the water on Chandler Avenue is unsafe. A precautionary notice is issued when pressure in a main drops below 20 psi, and it goes out to protect people whether or not contamination has been found. No test result for any of these three addresses has been published by anyone.
Collier County and the City of Fort Myers run their own separate water systems and their own separate maps. Both were checked on this run and neither has an active advisory. The City of Cape Coral is a fourth separate system, and the map this site used until August 22 has been removed from the city's server, so no Cape Coral figure is given here in either direction.
