Lee County logged three more boil water notices on Tuesday, two of them at the same Heron Coach Way address three hours apart, and lifted the Chandler Avenue notice after ninety six hours

Lee County Utilities added three precautionary boil water notices to its public layer on Tuesday and rescinded one, leaving five areas active on Tuesday night.

Three stood when this desk counted them before dawn. The three additions all went on during Tuesday, between a quarter past eleven in the morning and a quarter past two in the afternoon.

Two notices at one Heron Coach Way address, three hours apart

Both additions in the middle of the day carry the same address, 16541 Heron Coach Way. They are two separate notices, not one record edited twice, and the layer is unambiguous about it.

The first was created at 11.14 for a two inch valve replacement, with a service interruption stamped at ten in the morning. The county lists its affected addresses as 16541 Heron Coach Way alone, described as one multifamily building containing four units.

The second was created at 13.58 for a two inch main break, with an interruption stamped at one in the afternoon. Its affected addresses run 16523 through 16561 Heron Coach Way, a considerably wider stretch of the same street.

The two carry different record identifiers, different creation times, different causes and different mapped footprints, and their mapped centres sit about a hundred feet apart. Nothing published says whether the afternoon main break is connected to the morning valve work at the same address, and this desk is not going to assume it. What is clear is that anyone on that street should check themselves against the second and wider notice rather than the first.

One of the five has not started yet

The third addition is the unusual one, and it is the only notice on the layer tonight that the county has classified as scheduled rather than as an emergency.

It was created at 14.13 on Tuesday for a fire hydrant replacement, and its service interruption is stamped for nine o'clock on Wednesday morning. It covers all of Yorkshire Lane, all of Kasamada Drive and 10810 McGregor Boulevard.

The distinction is the county's own, not an inference. Its layer defines three codes: an emergency shut down, a scheduled shut down, and a rescission. The two Heron Coach Way notices and the two from Monday are all emergency shut downs. Yorkshire Lane is the scheduled one.

In practice that means nothing is wrong with the water on those streets tonight. The county is giving notice a day ahead that planned hydrant work will bring one with it in the morning.

Chandler Avenue is clear after just over four days

The notice around 2457 Chandler Avenue, opened after a four inch main break stamped at half past nine on Friday morning, was rescinded at 9.57 on Tuesday morning.

That is ninety six hours and twenty seven minutes, a little over four days. When this desk counted the notices at ten to five on Tuesday morning it had been open past ninety one hours, and it was lifted about three hours after that. Addresses from 2418 through 2457 Chandler Avenue are no longer under it.

It was the longest running of the notices on the layer, and it ran roughly twice the upper end of the duration the county itself advertises.

The two from Monday are both still open

Neither of the notices logged at lunchtime on Monday carries a rescission date, which makes Tuesday night the second night for each.

The first covers 795 through 930 Entrada Drive North, 884 through 924 Entrada Drive South and 12131 McGregor Boulevard, following a two inch main break. The second covers 2260 Woodland Boulevard and 8925 Crest Lane, also following a two inch main break.

The five active areas are spread along a corridor rather than clustered. Yorkshire Lane sits about 1.4 miles north of the Entrada Drive area, Crest Lane about 2.4 miles east of it, and the two Heron Coach Way footprints about 4.8 miles south of it and about six miles south of Yorkshire Lane.

What the county says a precautionary notice means

The county attaches the same standing note to every record on the layer: a boil water event typically lasts twenty four to forty eight hours, but it can be longer and may last several days. Chandler Avenue, at four days, is the case for taking that caveat literally.

The county publishes a contact number of (239) 533-8845 for these notices and says the notices are updated daily by four in the afternoon, which means a record created after that hour may be the first public sign of work that began earlier.
