Lake Fairways residents are under a boil water advisory after emergency valve and fire hydrant repairs
A precautionary boil water advisory is active for the Lake Fairways community in North Fort Myers after emergency work on a broken valve and fire hydrant. FGUA says affected customers should boil water used for drinking and cooking for one minute or use bottled water until laboratory results allow the utility to rescind the notice.

A precautionary boil water advisory is active for the Lake Fairways community in North Fort Myers after emergency work on a broken valve and fire hydrant.
The Florida Governmental Utility Authority says it temporarily shut down service so crews could replace the broken equipment. Affected customers were placed under the advisory after service returned.
The WINK Digital Team at WINK News reports that 970 customers are affected.
What residents should do
FGUA says water used for drinking and cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute. Bottled water may be used instead.
The utility is sending water samples to a laboratory certified by the Florida Department of Health. The advisory will remain in effect until testing indicates that the water is safe and FGUA posts a rescission.
FGUA says the notice is most likely to be lifted by Wednesday, September 30. That timing depends on the laboratory results.
