Southbound Interstate 75 is scheduled to close completely at the Collier Boulevard interchange in Naples for seven hours on the night of Tuesday, August 18, and the detour sends everyone out at Golden Gate Parkway

Southbound Interstate 75 is scheduled to be fully closed at the S.R. 951 and Collier Boulevard interchange in Naples, exit 101, from approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19. The Florida Department of Transportation says the closure is needed for crews to install an overhead sign. WINK News reported the closure and the detour route on Thursday afternoon.

The detour has two legs, and which one a driver needs depends on where they are going. Motorists heading for S.R. 951 and Collier Boulevard are told to exit southbound I-75 at Golden Gate Parkway, exit 105, and travel east on Golden Gate Parkway to C.R. 951 and Collier Boulevard. Motorists continuing south on I-75 toward Miami must take the same exit, travel east on Golden Gate Parkway, then go south on C.R. 951 and Collier Boulevard to re-enter southbound I-75 by way of the new loop ramp. The department notes that the activities are subject to change based on weather conditions and unforeseen underground conditions.

That loop ramp is itself new. The department states that the new southbound I-75 on-ramp is open and that drivers travelling south on Collier Boulevard toward southbound I-75 now keep right to use it, because the left turn that used to serve the interstate is no longer accessible. Drivers travelling north on Collier Boulevard also stay right for the ramp to southbound I-75.

The overnight closure is one night inside a much longer job. Project 425843-2 is the reconstruction of the I-75 southbound on and off ramp connections and the northbound on-ramp connection at exit 101, together with a single-lane flyover ramp from northbound Collier Boulevard that will carry traffic over Beck Boulevard and a rebuilt southbound on-ramp, and a flyover extension over Davis Boulevard to a new signalised intersection at Collier Boulevard and Business Circle North. The department's project page puts the construction cost at 97 million dollars across 1.3 miles, from Business Circle South to City Gate Drive, with the current phase running since early 2023 and estimated to finish late in 2026.

Alongside the single full closure, the department lists work that continues either side of it: nighttime lane closures on I-75 in both directions over Collier Boulevard while crews move barrier wall and widen the northbound bridge, intermittent overnight lane closures on Collier Boulevard itself, a closed outside right turn lane from southbound Collier Boulevard onto westbound Davis Boulevard that stays shut until the job is done, and sidewalk closures on Davis Boulevard just west of Collier Boulevard and on Collier Boulevard between Davis Boulevard and Business Circle North.
