Hagerty's market rating slipped to 58.59 as the gap between blue chip cars and the rest widened to 27 points
The collector car market is now two markets. That is the reading of Hagerty's June market update, reported by Adam Wilcox at Hagerty: the Hagerty Market Rating slipped 0.08 points to 58.59, its lowest level of the quarter, while the firm's Blue Chip Index of 25 top-tier collector cars stands at 75.54 and its index of the 100 most commonly insured collector vehicles has fallen to 48.32. Four years ago the gap between those two measures was under three points. It is now 27.22. Beneath the headline number, private sales activity fell to its weakest level in more than five years, and the auction median sale price component dropped to 13.81, an all-time low for that measure. Hagerty calls the August Monterey auctions the next large-scale test of the top end.
