An unrestored Mustang Boss 429 brought $1,045,000, a record for the model, at Barrett-Jackson's first Columbus auction

Barrett-Jackson closed its first Columbus auction on June 27 with $38.1 million in total sales across three days at the Ohio Expo Center, according to the results release the company published on June 29. Every one of the 550 vehicles sold. The top sale was a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder at $2,695,000. The muscle car record came at Lot 743, where an unrestored 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 showing 4,435 miles and retaining its matching-numbers 429ci V-8, four-speed transmission and rear axle sold for $1,045,000, a price Barrett-Jackson calls a world auction record for the model. The company also sold 255 pieces of automobilia for more than $1.1 million. Its next sale runs September 10 to 12 in Las Vegas. The lot record for the car is public on the auction docket.
