Deputies swept the inside of the building, the outside of it and the surrounding perimeter, and all of it came back negative. Students and staff went back in. The agency says the investigation is still open, which is the ordinary posture after a threat that turns out to be empty: the search for a device ends when the sweep ends, and the search for whoever made the call does not. What is worth separating out is what has and has not been established. The negative sweep is a finding. It is the agency telling parents that deputies looked and there was nothing there. The origin of the threat is not a finding at all. No person has been named, nobody has been arrested or charged, and the sheriff's office has not said publicly where the call came from or what it contained. Anyone reading a rumor about who was behind it this week is reading ahead of the record. For the wider Golden Gate and Naples area the practical effect appears to have ended on Monday. The agency account has students and staff back in the building the same morning, and nothing in it describes an order or a closure reaching past the campus.
