The wider point for anyone in Lee County who relies on these maps is that a deleted record and a resolved problem look identical from outside. The edit came at 10.13 that morning and resolved the silence in the least informative way available, by removing the evidence rather than updating it. Across the county the picture is otherwise clear tonight. Lee County Utilities has no active notice, with all seven records on its layer carrying a rescinded date. Cape Coral still has two, on Estancia Lane and SW 43rd Street, and lifted a third on Fairmont Cove Court at 1.07 on Sunday afternoon after seventy five hours. Cape Coral writes rescission dates against its records, which is why this site can say how long each of its notices ran and Fort Myers cannot be held to the same account.

The change came at 10.13 a.m. Eastern, the first edit the layer had taken in about ninety hours. At 7.05 that morning it still held three polygons, each coded active, each with no break date and no rescission date recorded against it.

The three records were not marked as rescinded. They were removed. The layer carries a rescission date field, which is how a utility normally records that the health department has cleared its samples and that residents can stop boiling. That field was null on all three records on Sunday morning, and the records themselves are now gone, so the service holds no rescission at all.

The service publishes a single layer, so there is no companion list of lifted notices to check against.

The three areas were identified by this site on July 31 as covering Paseo, Reflection Isles and Botanica Lakes, derived then by reverse geocoding a point inside each polygon. Those shapes no longer exist on the service, so that association cannot be checked against it again.

The city's own website remains unreachable. Both www.fortmyers.gov and www.cityftmyers.com resolve to the same address, 208.90.191.93, and requests to each timed out at the connect stage on Sunday evening, as they did on Friday and again on Sunday morning. That is where a municipal rescission notice would ordinarily appear, and it could not be read.

Elsewhere in the county the position is documented. Lee County Utilities returned seven records on Sunday evening and every one of them carries a rescinded date, so none of its notices is in force. Cape Coral holds two active areas, at 3168 Estancia Lane and 213 SW 43rd Street, and lifted a third covering 2623 Fairmont Cove Court at 1.07 on Sunday afternoon, seventy five hours after the break.
