Dow charged more, and it worked. The chemicals maker reported second-quarter net sales of $12.1bn, up 20 percent from a year earlier, with the whole increase coming from price. Local prices rose 20 percent, led by higher polyethylene across every region. Volume slipped 1 percent.
Operating earnings were $1.44 a share, against a loss of $0.42 in the same quarter of 2025. GAAP net income was $802m and GAAP earnings were $0.99 a share. Operating EBIT of $1.6bn improved by $1.7bn year over year, which the company credited to higher prices and its own cost program, called Transform to Outperform.
Cash from continuing operations was $1.3bn. The company returned $253m to shareholders in dividends during the quarter. Chief executive Karen S. Carter said the team executed with discipline and accelerated its self-help actions.
