Six more Collier schools move to free lunch this year, but 21 stay on the paid system and those families have to apply

Collier County Public Schools has published its meal lists for the 2026-2027 school year, and the list of schools serving lunch at no cost is longer than it was. Six schools are newly added to the Community Eligibility Provision, the federal option that lets high-poverty schools serve meals free to every enrolled student without collecting applications from families. Taylor Petras reported the change for WINK News.

The six additions, marked with an asterisk on the district's own page, are Big Cypress Elementary, Estates Elementary, Naples Park Elementary, Poinciana Elementary, Sabal Palm Elementary and Cypress Palm Middle School.

With those additions, 36 Collier schools now serve lunch at no cost: 24 elementary schools, seven middle schools and five high schools, counting Everglades City School and the district's Alternative School, which appear at more than one grade level. Immokalee Middle and Immokalee High are on the free list, as are Golden Gate Elementary, Golden Gate Middle and Golden Gate High.

Twenty-one schools remain on the paid lunch system. On the elementary side those are Bear Creek, Corkscrew, Lake Park, Laurel Oak, Osceola, Pelican Marsh, Sea Gate, Tommie Barfield, Veterans Memorial and Vineyards. The middle schools are Corkscrew, Gulfview, North Naples, Oakridge and Pine Ridge. The high schools are Aubrey Rogers, Barron Collier, Gulf Coast, Lorenzo Walker, Naples and Palmetto Ridge.

Breakfast is a separate matter, and a simpler one. The district states that all students at all CCPS schools are eligible to receive breakfast at no cost, whatever their school's lunch status.

For the schools on the paid system, lunch costs $2.75 for elementary students and $3.00 for middle and high school students. Families at those schools may still qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, but only through the application route. The district's page is explicit about the timing, saying parents must complete a meal application before the first day of school for eligibility to be determined.

The picture is different one county north. Lee County Schools participates in Community Eligibility district-wide, and the district's meal prices page states that all students in the School District of Lee County are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no charge with no need to fill out an application.

Both district pages are public and are linked here. This brief rests on those pages for the school lists, the prices and the application requirement, and credits WINK News for reporting the change. The Collier lists are the district's own and are subject to revision before the school year begins.
